Vibrating screens typically use spherical roller bearings with specific model numbers that reflect their suitability for vibrating applications. While the naming conventions may vary slightly between manufacturers, here are the typical suffixes used by major brands:
ZWZ (Wafangdian Bearing): Vibrating screen spherical roller bearings are marked with the suffix "VB". These bearings maintain standard external dimensions, but have a fixed center rib on the inner ring and a specially designed cage structure that enhances vibration resistance and damping performance.
SKF: Bearings with the suffix "VA405" are designed for vibrating machinery and feature a case-hardened stamped steel cage. The "VA406" model is similar, but has a PTFE coating on the inner ring.
FAG (Schaeffler): Bearings designed for vibrating applications have the suffix "T41A" or "T41D". These bearings are optimized for vibrating loads and have narrower diameter tolerances and C4 internal radial clearance. Bearings marked "T41D" also have a thin layer of chrome plated on the inner bore surface.
How To Choose:
Selecting the right bearing requires a thorough evaluation of the operating characteristics of the vibrating screen (such as vibration frequency, load size and direction, and speed) as well as the performance characteristics of the bearing itself (such as load capacity, self-aligning ability, and accuracy).
The critical operating conditions of the vibrating screen directly affect the choice of bearing. The following factors must be carefully confirmed:
1. Load type and size
During operation, the bearing is mainly subjected to radial loads (caused by the weight of the material and the inertial forces generated by the vibrating screen), and some axial loads (caused by the tilt angle of the screen box). So it is critical to calculate the actual radial load (Fr) and axial load (Fa) under operating conditions. And the vibration shock factor should also be considered(usually between 1.2 and 2.0, but higher for severe shocks. ), so that we can determine the required dynamic load rating (C) and static load rating (C₀).
2. Speed range
The main shaft of the vibrating screen usually runs at a low speed (500-1500 rpm), but the vibration frequency can be high (up to 1000-3000 times per minute). Therefore, the bearing must have excellent fatigue resistance to withstand high-frequency alternating loads.
3. Self-aligning requirements
The vibration of the screen box during operation may cause slight misalignment between the shaft and the bearing seat due to installation errors or structural deformation. The self-aligning ability of spherical roller bearings can compensate for such deviations. It is critical to ensure that the allowable misalignment angle of the bearing meets the equipment requirements (usually 1°-2.5°, and up to 3° for large bearings).
4. Operating environment
Vibrating screens often operate in dusty and high-humidity environments, such as mining or construction industries. Therefore, the bearing lubrication must offer good contamination resistance — for example, using lithium-based greases.
5. Internal clearance selection
The bearing will heat up during operation and requires sufficient internal clearance to accommodate thermal expansion. C3 clearance (larger than normal clearance CN) is generally recommended to prevent bearing seizure. For applications involving heavy shock loads, C4 clearance may be a better choice.
