Single-Row Tapered Roller Bearings
In the family of rolling bearings, single-row tapered roller bearings, with their unique load-carrying capacity and structural flexibility, have become friend in fields such as automobile manufacturing and mechanical engineering. They can bear both radial loads and unidirectional axial forces, and their design details and type classification are adapted to diverse working conditions.
What is a Single-Row Tapered Roller Bearing?
A single-row tapered roller bearing is a separable bearing composed of an inner ring, an outer ring, tapered rollers and a cage. As a separable bearing, its inner ring (including rollers and cage) and outer ring can be disassembled separately, which makes its installation and maintenance extremely convenient. At the same time, it can bear both large radial loads and unidirectional axial loads, making it an ideal choice for complex force-bearing scenarios.
Main Types of Single-Row Tapered Roller Bearings
According to different structural details, size specifications and application scenarios, single-row tapered roller bearings can be divided into the following categories:
Classified by Structural Details
-
Open Type
Based on the basic structure of single-row tapered roller bearings (inner ring, outer ring, tapered rollers, cage), there is no sealing device (no dust cover or sealing ring), and the raceway and rollers are directly exposed. It maintains a separable design, and the inner ring and outer ring can be separated, with the same disassembly and assembly method as ordinary single-row tapered roller bearings.
-
Sealed Type
It retains the basic structure of single-row tapered roller bearings (inner ring, outer ring, tapered rollers, cage) and is equipped with a built-in sealing device, usually a contact-type sealing ring (such as nitrile rubber material) or a non-contact type dust cover (such as a stamped steel part). The sealing part forms a closed space with the inner ring or outer ring, wrapping the raceway and rollers. It is still a separable design, and the inner ring and outer ring can be separated, but the sealing part may be fixed with the inner ring or outer ring, so attention should be paid to protecting the sealing structure during disassembly and assembly.
Classified by Size Series
According to the ratio of inner diameter, outer diameter and width, it can be divided into three series: light, medium and heavy, to adapt to different load requirements:
Light series (such as 30000 type): Small in size, narrow in radial section, suitable for light load and high-speed scenarios, such as auxiliary shafting of precision machine tools.
Medium series (such as 32000 type, 33000 type): With balanced performance, it is the most widely used series, commonly found in automobile hubs, tractor gearboxes, etc.
Heavy series (such as 35000 type): The rollers are thick and wide, with strong load-carrying capacity, used in heavy equipment such as mining machinery and rolling mills.
Classified by Cage Type
The material and structure of the cage directly affect the rotation speed and stability of the bearing:
Stamped steel cage: Low cost and light weight, suitable for medium-low speed and general load scenarios (such as ordinary motors).
Solid cage: Made of materials such as copper alloy and phenolic resin, it has high strength and wear resistance, and is suitable for high-speed, heavy-load or high-temperature environments (such as the spindle of precision machine tools).
